PEACH ADDS VALUE ON THE NET - Newsletter 2001

Remember when the internet was going to bring us loads of new services - all for free? Well we’re doing our small bit to keep alive that idea. Homebuyers and property investors across the nation can enjoy free new online facilities - thanks to Peach.

Our website at www.peaches.com.au has two new resources that we’re excited to inform you about through this newsletter.

Firstly, you can download sophisticated property investment software with features you can only get elsewhere if you part with between fifty and several hundreds of dollars. Secondly, we’ve also just launched free online advertising for property buyers and sellers around Australia - with special privileges for Peach customers.

Peach sees providing these facilities as a small contribution to making the internet work the way it should, with resources developed by communities of enthusiasts and like-minded businesses as a value-added service, distributed free of charge to users.

This edition of our Peach newsletter outlines these new services.

EZ-Rent Property Investment Software

Last year Paul, a West Australian investor with knowledge of accounting and software development, decided to build an investment software program, ‘EZ-Rent’, and release it for free on the internet. It was simpler than the professionally available products. For instance it handled just one property at a time.

He was inundated with offers of sponsorship but they usually had a catch. He was asked if he could stop giving it away on the internet. Could he sell it to sponsors and let them distribute it? Some wanted to charge a price for the software. Others wanted to distribute it for free - but only to their own customers. Others wanted Paul to write the program so it showed optimistic assumptions - to encourage people to buy investments those companies were selling.

We contacted Paul after he’d rejected all these proposals. We paid him to develop the next generation of his software. We didn’t ask him to ‘cook the books’ or produce ‘promotional software’. And we said we’d distribute it free to all, not just our own clients.

And so our partnership was born. We’ve already released a minor upgrade of his first program but we are now releasing a major upgrade. EZ-Rent Version 2.0 simulates the tax and cashflow implications of property investment in a user-friendly format. The updated program allows current and potential investors to evaluate investment purchases in detail by taking into account a large range of variables.

For the first time it also allows for the handling of multiple properties.

EZ-Rent Version 2.0 now also includes the following capabilities:

  • Support for partial-year purchases
  • Support for income tax loss
  • Support for user-defined depreciables + life
  • Support for partial-year depreciables
  • User-defined income growth rates per investor
  • New reports for property cashflow and depreciation
  • New reports for overall cashflow, tax and depreciation

Peach hopes investors across the nation will now enjoy EZ-Rent as part of the "public commons" of cyberspace, whether they’re Peach clients or not. It will provide valuable information on investment possibilities, allowing investors to investigate various scenarios at the click of a mouse.

Free Real Estate Property Advertising

Another new service on the Peach website (www.peaches.com.au) allows property sellers to advertise online at no charge and without obligation. It is open to both private sales and existing listings through real estate agents.

The facility aims to match potential buyers and sellers. Buyers can browse or search the site, or they can choose to register their preferences by giving us their "Property Seeker Profile". This provides an email alert for the seeker whenever a property that matches their profile is listed.

Existing Peach customers get more value again! Anyone who has, or is getting a loan with Peach, qualifies for a free upgrade of their listing to Premier status, which gives your ad priority over normal listings and gives you the ability to display images of your property.

It’s another example of Peach’s commitment to providing the public with services to make home ownership and property investment much easier and more cost effective. The new property listing facility can match potential buyers and sellers right around Australia - without cost to either party.
